SLC Property recently supported Flood Technology Group (FTG) using our Intelligent Site Finding service. FTG is a specialist provider of innovative flood defence solutions designed to help developers overcome planning barriers and improve site deliverability.

Challenge

FTG wanted to engage more proactively with developers facing planning challenges linked to flood risk. Too often, developers only sought solutions once significant time and cost had already been lost in the planning process.

Solution

Utilising SLC Property’s advanced geospatial and planning intelligence capabilities, we built a bespoke search model to filter:

Refused planning applications
Refusals citing flood risk or drainage constraints
Development types aligned with FTG’s service offering (e.g. residential, commercial, mixed-use)
From the long list generated, we carried out a detailed assessment of each application, examining:
- Specific reasons for refusal
- Flood Zone classifications
- Site constraints and potential mitigation routes

Result

SLC Property provided a database of the relevant refused applications, containing information such as – planning summaries for each case, contact details for applicants and their planning agents, and an accompanying plan per site
